Because I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to build a future where they can thrive, not just survive.
Meet Christian. Our Very First Intern.
When we first met Christian, he was working for an uncle who was paying him less than a survival wage.
He worked hard, but the money he received was barely enough for food.
There was no real opportunity to save, become independent, or build a better life.
And unfortunately, we discovered that Christian's situation wasn't unique.
In some communities, young people are expected to work for family members while receiving so little compensation that they're unable to move beyond basic survival.
From barely earning enough to survive to building his own business and supporting his family.
Christian's story is a powerful example of what's possible when someone gets the opportunity to create a different future.
Christian deserved more than that.
Through the Project Abundance Intern Program, Christian had an opportunity to develop skills and work toward a different future.
And today?
Christian has his own small business!
His business now provides for his needs and the needs of his family.
And something particularly meaningful?
He's able to help support his elderly mother.
